Biggest Runner Pet Peeves: Read It. Remember It. Stop Doing It.

It’s happening, you’re sliding in to the zone, the world is fading away and you’re now one with your running shoes. Who knows, maybe you’ll just run for days, maybe you’ll never stop, why would you when it feels so good?!

Then some yahoo honks, you leap out of your skin as your adrenaline shoots sky high and you look around furiously wondering were you about to be hit or hit on.

Running does a lot for the mood, but there are certainly a few pet peeves which can put a little kink in your step. Have a good laugh and then let me know if I missed any!

Why do you get on the treadmill next to me when there are 22 open machines?

Why are you staring at me as you drive?Do you wish you were out running too?

Why does every race photo look like I’m walking or dying?

Why do you think a 5K and a marathon are the same?

Why are you asking if I won? Don’t you think I’d tell you…and do you really think I’d win??

Why are you telling me why you don’t run?

Why is every injury because I’m a runner? Maybe I’m clumsy.

Why do you keep clipping my heels in a race? We aren’t in a 1 mile sprint, enjoy the road.

Why are you honking at me? Do you think I’ll stop running and come make out with you?

Why do walkers line up with the elite runners? I get you might be new, but doesn’t that feel awkward to you too?

Why is your crew walking arm in arm across the path like a barricade and refusing to share? Same to you dog owner with the 10 foot leash.

Why do they keep changing running shoes that are absolutely perfect? Do they want me to buy a new brand?

As always shared with humor because running just isn’t that serious. Obviously many of us have learned things the hard way by being new runners ourselves, so this isn’t to put anyone down (ehhm for a 5K marathon), but hey if we can bring a few of our non-runner friends in to the loop maybe we’ll all run a little happier.

Think out loud with me….

Any silly things that can ruin your run?
